Grapevine and Miraz Halloween Event

From the 19th until the end of October, Grapevine and Miraz will be working together to raise funds to finance the Halloween event organized by both of the clubs as well as the ICPU students from the Main Campus. Please be sure to help us out by buying our product as well as help out selling the product itself and participate in our organizing of the event.

Grapevine Recruitment Drive

From the 24th to the 28th of August, Taylor's University College's ADP's Grapevine has embarked on the member recruiment drive to bolster their numbers for the many upcoming events such as Halloween, Eath Hour and others more. Members were asked to pitch in and take shifts manning the recruiment booth. Over 50 new members are recruited; success especially when we're confined to the ADP student body. With the additional manpower, Grapevine will be able to organize and manned their events with little problems.

1st Shift of the Week; Our honorable President was the first to manned our recruitment booth. All Grapevine members are inspired by her act of determination and selflessness.



As you can see, this is some of our members that helped out during the recruitment drive. You can see the enthusiasm in their eyes.






Competition was high as the other clubs and societies sought out members of their own but Grapevine was up to the challenge and we're able to recruit enough members for our own cause.

SUMMER BREAK!

hey y'all summer break has almost started. to those who are still having their finals, tomorrow and the day after; good luck. to those, who have started their holiday, well ENJOY!

sorry for the long silence. anyway, we are going to have a lot of activities next semester. stay tuned for more fun activities. just to update y'all that grapevine has changed it's high committee members. we've been recruiting quite a lot of new new members to join us and if u haven't join us please, please do so! (:

welcome to THE GRAPEVINE!

This year we will be having a whole new look, sophisticated and elegant yet fun and exciting. To have a better organization, as the President of Grapevine Club, I have implemented a new policy.

First of all, members who paid membership fee of RM 10 will be appointed to one of the three departments; Public Relations, Advertising or Journalism. The structure of these departments are as follows:

1)     Public Relation:

a)     Mini General Manager

b)     PR Practitioner

 

2)     Advertising

a)     Mini General Manager

b)     Advertiser

c)      Copywriter

 

3)     Journalism

a)     Mini Editor

b)     Journalist

c)      Photographer

Upon joining the Grapevine Club, members are entitled to get a certificate before graduating from ADP. However, there is a strict policy on this to ensure that the value of the certificate is maintained. The policy is as follows:

1.   Paid membership fee of RM 10

        2.    Not absent for more than 2 meetings without any valid reason

  3.    Participate in at least 2 events per semester

     4.     A minimum of 2 semester as Grapevine member

WORLD FOREST DAY!

hello ppl! sorry for  the long long silent. and NOW, WE are BACK!  we promise to update more frequently after this. anyway, few weeks ago we went for a WORLD FOREST DAY in KUALA SELANGOR!  the trip was far more adventurous than we thought.

so here goes an article about our trip! - it's worth reading (:

  WORLD FOREST DAY

The buildings and the busy roads are probably the things that most of us will see as signs of development, as signs of civilization of the human society. We are proud of those mega projects; and those latest human inventions are seen as a step closer to a total modernization. Our lifestyle is probably the best indicator of the ‘modernization’; the material life, and our personality is always about ‘me’—it has nothing to do with you, nor ‘them’. “I shape myself. What I do is what I do. It has nothing to do with anything around me,”.

            And yet those are paid with the un-green environment we have today, the extinction of the God’s creatures we are facing now, and most importantly, we are dealing with the greatest guilt of today’s mankind, the guilt of destroying the nature,—and we are still claiming that we have nothing to do with others; what we do is what we do.

            How ironic.

            Everyone is still breathing just because there are trees around. That is the simplest way to show the great connection we have with our environment. Luckily, there are people who know this very well, doing every effort to maintain the cool air of the environment, and are working very hard to get rid of their guilt due to their past doings to the Mother Nature (at least).

The Grapevine is an amazing club (I am trying to be moderate).So when there was a call about this community work—a replanting of mangrove trees activity at the Kuala Selangor, we were so excited about it (the president was the most excited one). Possibly, we rarely encounter such an environmental community work that we developed a very great interest in this matter.

Personally, I was not very interested in the idea of going there, because surely, there will be mud, weird insects flying around, and you are going to get dirty. Obviously, those are what you have to expect from a swamp. However, looking at the other spiritful club members, I still went there despite of the unfavorable images in my mind. Reaching there, I was ‘lucky’ because nothing that I encountered was any better than what I had imagined.

At first, we were briefed about the way we are supposed to plant each tree by one of the officer there. Somehow, there was this sad part where we were assigned to the most muddy and watery area. The water level was so high that we could not even feel the soil to plant the trees. There were also many people ‘sucked’ into the mud that we ended up pulling people out of the mud instead of planting more trees. The condition there was bad mostly because it was raining the day before, which made the condition to become worse. Apart from that, we learnt to work as a team, where we had to work together to walk on the muddy area, and the guidance from the front people during the walking activity was extremely needed. Honestly, I felt that we consumed more time facing the ‘adventure’ and ‘obstacles’ rather than doing the real task—planting all the trees.

From here, the activity made us realize of something (of course, besides realizing how difficult it is to plant trees in a swamp)—how much we have to pay back for the damage we caused to the nature. That was just a piece of damage. Just imagine how bad we have to work to restore all the greens. Therefore, it is sad to know that there are still people claiming how they are ‘not connected to the nature’ after all the damages they did.

We were quite upset; because we know how hard we have to work to restore the greens. We really know.

So there, back to the stance, we are doing those works as a part of our responsibility. It is a way to cover up the guilt for damaging the environment; therefore, we have many activities to pay the nature back. So, now, there is such thing like the Earth Hour. However we have to remember, these are not the only ways. Think of the muddy destroyed swamp when you are talking about the earth hour, think of the carbon monoxide that your cars release every morning, and think of the ais kacang plastic bag you threw out last week. Because, I bet, you never want to know about what you have to pay tomorrow for what you have caused.

           

And for the Earth Hour, lights off not for the earth, but for your guilt?

all in all,the weather was great and  the trip was really enjoyable. we would like to take this opportunity to thank miss singh for accompanying us for this trip!         

             

            

So unfortunately, Halloween has long gone and passed but no updates have been given thus far about it.

My sincerest apologies as person responsible for that. Most of us have been busy with end of semester arrangements and finals of course, so a couple of delays here and there can always be expected.

Now it's time for our well deserved holidays! I hope all of you are having a jolly good time already out there :)

This year it will be fun and terror on the 12th floor of Subang Square again. The direct floor beneath the floor you've never been before. All excitement starts from 7pm onwards and will last all through the night.

Ticket prices are RM 15 on the day itself.
