So unfortunately, Halloween has long gone and passed but no updates have been given thus far about it.

My sincerest apologies as person responsible for that. Most of us have been busy with end of semester arrangements and finals of course, so a couple of delays here and there can always be expected.

Now it's time for our well deserved holidays! I hope all of you are having a jolly good time already out there :)

Pictures from the Halloween Party. As they say, a picture speaks more than a thousand words. So have fun looking at some of the images as well.

Preparation and decorations.

Our dearest Emcee

Entertainers of the night.

And Michael Chew won Best Dressed!
Woo hoo!!

So that was pretty much sums up the entire night. There are a lot more pictures all over Facebook of course :)

Looking forward to next year's party!

And now,
the dreadful moment you have all been waiting for.

A time when there is no excuse,
when danger and peril lurks out of every corner.
Where shadows are not just mere shadows,
and you better think twice about those extra set of footsteps you're hearing in the alley.

Yes, it is once again that time of the year.
Brace yourselves for this year's...

HALLOWEEEN PARTY

This year it will be fun and terror on the 12th floor of Subang Square again. The direct floor beneath the floor you've never been before. All excitement starts from 7pm onwards and will last all through the night.

Ticket prices are RM 15 on the day itself.

Don't miss out on this chance for you to experience a memorable and significant night! There will tons of things featured on that night such as a Haunted House, Movies, Games (treasure hunts etc) Food, Live Bands, Good music, Dance floor, Face Painting and so many more!

I suggest you stop contemplating and start figuring out your costume for the night itself!

Support this year's Halloween Party because it will be one that you'll never forget ;)

Hello again everybody!

After taking a rather long absence from this blog, it's time to feed our readers with some updates once more. A big apology for being missing in action!

As you all know from the previous posts, Grapevine was part of the Getting There: Big On Broadcasting talk. Just to refresh some memories, the talk was on the 8th of October at 2 pm in the Purple Box, ADP.

The crowed turned out better than all of us expected and surprisingly, the Purple Box was packed with people. Even those who were not from Mass Communication majors decided to join in and I bet the decision was not regretted.

Anyhow, Idora Khairi who was our speaker for the day turned out to be a very spontaneous and pleasant woman. The talk was very informal and most of the time, she just spoke based on her experience in the broadcasting world.

Most of us were both shocked and enthralled by her experiences from working in the field. As a journalist previously, Idora mentioned that she got to travel to many places abroad.

She did mention that one of the incidents that took the biggest toll on her as a journalist was when she had to go to Acheh after the Tsunami in December of 2004. She painfully recalled her experience in saving a mother and a child that fell victim to the disaster. Unfortunately, she only got to rescue the mother because the little infant died by the time she reached underneath all the rubble.

However, the talk wasn't mainly from Idora herself. The audience got many opportunities to query her about the entire broadcasting world. From job prospects to protocols and codes that had to be adhered when in the business, Idora answered it all. Of course, there were a couple of questions that were totally out of the box, but nonetheless, Idora was a good sport so she tried her level best to provide all the information she could.

The most important lesson learned from that day about the broadcasting world is that nothing is ever what it seems. Being in broadcasting does not only consist of all the glitz and glamor from being in front of the camera. Behind the cameras and the scenes, it's literal madness and chaos. This, Idora can never stress enough. She said, even seconds before, anything can happen and you always have to be on your toes and tackle the situation when it comes. Remember it's 99% stress and 1% fun!

At the end of the day though, it will all be worth it if it is your passion.

Some of the people looking very happy after the talk. Told you it was a good talk! For those of you who did not get the chance to attend this talk, let's just hope there will be a next time alright?

Idora also has been very kind to us by extending a special invitation to anybody who would like to see ESPN Sportscenter Malaysia LIVE! She wants small groups of people only. If any one of you out there is interested in catching this, feel free to email us via our Grapevine email! A first come, first serve basis of course.

Until the next update!

Unveil: Grapevine committe members

The decision has been made. The verdict is out. Here comes where everyone's "oh so dying" moment to know the new Grapevine committee members. Here are the faces. Enjoy!!!

Let's start off with,

Grapevine Advisor
Miss Anna

Miss Anna was neither nominated nor interviewed by Ken Tsen to be Grapevine advisor. She has always been the advisor for Grapevine. A passionate lecturer who teaches Mass Communication subjects like Interpersonal Communication,Public Speaking,Public Relation and etc.. Take any of her classes and you know what we mean.Behind the smile of this picture lies her burning passion in guiding Grapevine to be the most AWESOME club at ADP. With Miss Anna, Grapevine resurrected. Go, Miss Anna!

VIPs (Very Important Positions) of Grapevine

(Drumroll)

The Presidents....

Ken Tsen is the new President for Grapevine(Hooray). Beside him is Amanda, the Vice President(Yippee). Needless to say, Ken Tsen is the best candidate to run Grapevine. Not forgetting Amanda will be assisting him. Despite people saying that Presidents are only instructing their members to do something. But not for them. They stick to the rule, "Work with Me and Not For Me".

The Secretaries....
All good things come in two. Yup,the secretaries,Fiona(Secretary) and Soo Gin(Deputy Secretary). Doesn't this pic scream the face of secretaries? Despite loads of paperwork like minutes or reports to be done,Fiona and Soo Gin are good at hiding their tiredness by smiling happily for this pic. The Queens of Grapevine. Not to be messed with!

The Treasurer....

A person who holds the money for a club is called treasurer. Thus, Siti Nawar is the new treasurer for Grapevine. A lady who is very particular with Grapevine's account and will always try her best by providing loads of idea on how to minimise our club expenditure. Ka Ching, Ka Ching. Bling Bling.

Marketing Department

Two ladies in stripes ROAR. Audrey and Christine rock. They are the newbies in the Marketing Department. Do not look down on them. They are really good in finding ways to market Grapevine (Grapevine and nothing else) off to everywhere. Without them, who would know Grapevine?

Public Relation Department

The team that is responsible to maintain the reputation of Grapevine. Darryl (Public Relation) and Adelina(Webmaster). Darryl is in-charge of enhancing and present Grapevine in ADP and beyond in the best light. Adelina will give us updates about the happenings organized by Grapevine. Even though her job sounds easy like typing words into this blog, but any wrong facts might just ruin everything.

The Person behind all these pictures...........

Our photographer

Shun Jie,huh? Yup. The guy who always carry his camera around and snaps pictures of his surrounding. That is why Ken Tsen picked him as Grapevine photographer because of his passion in photography. That smiley face of him describes a thousand words. How can we live without Shun Jie, the photographer?

Basically, all of us have equal duty to make Grapevine an AWESOME club. Please do always give us support. Feel free to approach anyone of us at ADP for any suggestions or comments regarding Grapevine. But if you are shy to meet us, just leave comments on our chitter chatter. We would really appreciate every effort you make.

Do not take too much time thinking whether to join or not to join Grapevine. Hear us LOUD and CLEAR. We, the Grapevine club would invite YOU (Yes,You)to..................

JOIN

GRAPEVINE

and Experience it for yourself the Awesomeness of our club. We assure that you will never regret joining Grapevine.

An update,

List of committee members for this term is already up at the side, as promised.
Together with it, their emails as well.
So if you have any inquiries, use their emails.

A chatbox is also up and running at present moment.
That will solely be for communication purposes :)
So please utilize it, or it will be a very lonely chatbox.

Grapevine and Miraz Club of ADP had our first Halloween Committee meeting today. We divided the roles out and appointed heads for each section.
I will post the heads of each section soon, once I get the complete list.

I'll also include all the necessary information such as the date and themes and whatnot,
as soon as I get the list as well :)

From there on, I'll try to give all of you an update to see how and where are we progressing as far as planning this year's Halloween Party is concerned.
Be very patient for that!

On another note,
there will be a speaker coming to ADP.

Name: Idora Khairi
Designation: Director for Sportscenter, Malaysia.
ESPN Star Sports.
Date: 8 October 2008 (Wednesday)
Time: 2pm onwards
Venue: Purple Box Theater, American Degree Program Office,
Subang Square
Title of Talk: Getting There...Big on Broadcasting!

The poster for this event will be up very soon as well.
(Hopefully!)
But be sure to mark your calendars for the
8th of October 2008!
...as mentioned above

It will be a very informal talk.
More of a question and answer session with this very prestigious director,
and I am sure there a whole lot of you who would be dying to know all about the broadcasting world!

So, it would definitely be something you wouldn't want to miss!
